Qualifications

Required Qualifications:BS, MS, or PhD in Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline.10+ years of experience with a BS, 8+ years with an MS, or 4+ years with a PhD specifically in flight testing of fixed-wing aircraft, rotorcraft, tiltrotors, or eVTOLs. Proficient in accepted flight test techniques for fixed-wing aircraft and rotorcraft (e.g., AC 27-1B, AC 29-2C, AC 23-8C, AC 25-7D, ASTM Standards, ADS-33). Demonstrated experience with certification under 14 CFR Part 27, 29, 23, or 25 Subpart B for new type designs or amended/supplemental type designs is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of fixed-wing and rotorcraft aerodynamics, performance, and stability & control.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct aerodynamic testing and analysis to support Subpart B Flight Characteristics and Performance certification.
  • Develop advanced tools for analyzing and processing flight test data.
  • Establish tolerances for flight test parameters and metrics for data quality.
  • Perform comprehensive analysis of flight test data, comparing results with predictions across the flight envelope, and generate detailed test reports with findings and recommendations.
  • Prepare substantiation documentation to demonstrate compliance with airworthiness criteria.
  • Engage with the FAA and Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs) regarding airworthiness and compliance matters.
  • Collaborate with the Flight Test organization to plan and execute flight test events aimed at validating aerodynamic models and vehicle performance.
  • Develop methods, processes, and documentation to support aircraft fleet management, including repair assessments and guidance, Configuration Deviation Lists, and Minimum Equipment Lists.
