About the job

What to Expect

Heron Power is an innovative startup dedicated to developing advanced power electronics solutions for the modern electrical grid. Our mission is to eliminate obstacles to electricity generation and consumption through scalable, innovative, and cost-effective hardware, thereby accelerating the electrification of various sectors.

We are focused on creating superior converters (inverters and rectifiers) that seamlessly connect large-scale renewable energy sources, storage systems, and high-power loads like data centers to the grid. Our leadership team comprises industry veterans who have successfully designed and launched gigawatts of power conversion products over the last decade.

At Heron Power, we believe in the power of collaboration and shared learning. We foster a dynamic and enriching environment that promotes personal, technical, and career growth. You can anticipate engaging in a first-principles engineering approach, tackling complex challenges with a strong emphasis on hands-on execution and experiential learning.

Job Overview

Ensuring uptime, availability, and reliability is paramount for our converters that integrate large-scale renewables, storage, and high-power loads into the grid. Our team works diligently to provide a comprehensive, physics-based understanding of our systems, from architecture to field deployment, leading to designs that are reliable, safe, and high-performing. We integrate systems engineering, modeling, reliability assessment, testing, and failure analysis into one cohesive team that collaborates closely with design engineering to address the most challenging technical questions.

As a System Integration Engineer specializing in Power Electronics, you will be responsible for transforming a collection of subsystems into a robust product. This involves defining and driving system requirements, interfaces, and verification plans, and executing the integration strategy through hands-on system bring-up and thorough testing across all development phases.

You will collaborate closely with electrical and mechanical design, firmware, control, and reliability teams, leading root cause analysis for any failures encountered in the lab or field, and ensuring that fixes are validated and resistant to regression.

If you excel in creating clarity amidst ambiguity and can turn chaos into a standardized process, you'll find this role to be an ideal fit.
