Your Mission
The Systems Support Engineer is a key member of the Secure Services Team at boxxe, responsible for managing and providing support across various technologies, including public and private clouds, networking, and systems infrastructure. This role encompasses delivering exceptional proactive and reactive support to managed service customers, configuring and maintaining systems, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring the high availability of infrastructure. The engineer will also play a crucial role in implementing new projects and managing customer-specific specialisms.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Administer and maintain computer networks, systems software, applications, hardware, and configurations across diverse customer environments.
- Monitor, maintain, and apply patches to systems.
- Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations as needed.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, network, and system issues.
- Proactively monitor system performance and implement necessary adjustments for optimal efficiency.
- Maintain security, backups, resilience, and disaster recovery plans.
- Create and update user guides and knowledge articles to enhance task efficiency.
- Collaborate with vendors and technical teams for effective issue resolution.
- Participate in the on-call rota for out-of-hours support (1 in 5 evenings & weekends).
What Experience We Think You’ll Need
- Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting both Windows and Linux environments.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Knowledge of monitoring systems (e.g., Logic Monitor, SolarWinds, PRTG).
- Understanding of networking principles.
- Experience with hardware solutions (e.g., Compute, Storage, LAN, WLAN, EUC).
- Proficient in creating high-quality support documentation.
