About the Role
We are looking for a dynamic Tech Lead Manager to guide the engineers within our Core Platform team. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the team meets business objectives while creating scalable, high-quality systems that enhance customer satisfaction. Your responsibilities will include holding engineers accountable, cultivating a culture of technical excellence, and nurturing their professional growth. This position requires a delicate balance between business priorities and architectural integrity, avoiding short-term solutions while ensuring that our investments align with long-term goals. Although you will not be directly responsible for coding, your leadership and collaboration across functions will be essential to the team's success.
Candidates must reside in NYC, Seattle, or San Francisco.
For NYC candidates, our office, equipped with robots, is located near Grand Central Station, and we typically require on-site attendance three days a week. For candidates in San Francisco or Seattle, the role will initially be remote but is expected to transition to a hybrid model in one of these cities soon.
In this role, you will:
- Lead and mentor a team of software engineers to achieve significant business outcomes.
- Ensure the team meets its goals and delivers quality results.
- Guide the development of robust architectures while avoiding excessive early investments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Hardware, Marketing, Design, and Production, to align priorities and resolve challenges.
- Encourage engineer development through mentorship, constructive feedback, and personalized growth plans.
You might excel in this role if you:
- Possess 8+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a management role.
- Have a proven track record of leading teams to deliver high-quality software solutions in a fast-paced environment.
- Are adept in system design and architecture and can help teams balance immediate needs with long-term scalability.
- Exhibit strong interpersonal skills and the ability to foster team collaboration.
