Fylter Ltd is on the lookout for a skilled and dedicated Transport Manager to lead a dynamic and fast-paced transport department located in Lillyhall, near Workington.

This role is highly interactive, requiring you to collaborate closely with the General Manager, Customer Service, and Loading/Packing Departments to ensure timely and precisely managed deliveries to a diverse clientele throughout the North of England and South of Scotland. You will manage a fleet of approximately 25 vehicles, including both eighteen-tonne lorries and sprinter vans, adhering to a set delivery and collection schedule.

The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in manufacturing or logistics, coupled with experience in managing high-performing teams. We are seeking an organized and committed professional who can enhance team performance in our rapidly expanding organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Transport Department's organization, providing strategic guidance and planning support to the Transport Supervisor.
  • Manage all drivers, including scheduling rotas and coordinating rest days in collaboration with the Transport Supervisor.
  • Assist in the recruitment and selection of drivers in partnership with the HR Department.
  • Ensure compliance with all Ministry of Transport and VOSA regulations.
  • Analyze and optimize daily route scheduling to maximize efficiency.
  • Implement safe working systems for all staff, providing necessary training on manual handling and other essential skills.
  • Operate within monthly financial budgets.
  • Monitor and manage staff performance, offering coaching and addressing any performance or disciplinary issues in conjunction with HR.
  • Be adaptable with working hours as necessary.
  • Hold a National CPC qualification as a minimum.
