Job Summary
The Underwriter I (Energy) will play a pivotal role in assessing complex energy insurance submissions. This position involves evaluating risk characteristics against established underwriting guidelines to ascertain coverage eligibility, pricing, and structuring.
Position Responsibilities
- Utilize comprehensive underwriting guidelines, rules, and delegated authority to accept, reject, or structure energy-related risks, determining suitable premiums, limits, and coverage terms.
- Employ independent underwriting judgment to approve or decline submissions within designated authority limits and issue coverage accordingly. Prepare referral submissions for risks that exceed these limits.
- Conduct in-depth analyses of energy-specific exposures, including operational, contractual, geographic, and loss history factors.
- Represent ISC at broker meetings and conduct independent broker visits, leveraging territory management and relationship-building skills within the energy brokerage community.
- Diligently document underwriting files, detailing exposure analyses, coverage rationales, and pricing justifications in line with established standards.
- Foster strong broker relationships through independent efforts.
- Calculate pricing for new business and renewals in alignment with program guidelines and market conditions.
- Collaborate effectively with underwriting leadership, operations, and various ISC business units as required.
