Language Empire is urgently seeking freelance Portuguese interpreters based in Manchester to provide essential interpreting services across various sectors, including the NHS, local authorities, police, probation services, and other public and private organizations.
Since our inception in 2001, we have delivered high-quality interpreting and translation services throughout the UK, covering a vast array of languages and dialects. The positions we are currently looking to fill include:
- Face-to-Face Interpreters
- Telephone Interpreters
- Video Interpreters
- Translators
Please note, this is a self-employed role.
Your Role:
As an interpreter, you will listen, comprehend, and accurately relay spoken content from the source language to the target language. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing interpretation for clients utilizing legal, health, and local government services.
- Ensuring non-English speakers understand after each statement.
- Engaging in conference, consecutive, and public service interpreting.
- Handling sensitive and confidential information.
- Facilitating communication between service users and providers.
Qualifications:
- Fluency in English and Portuguese (or another language).
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Must be 21 years or older.
- Formal qualifications are advantageous, including:
- Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI)
- Community Interpreting
- NRPSI, CIOL, ITI registration
- Degree in Translation, Interpreting, or Languages
- Any other related interpreting qualifications
