We are on the lookout for a highly driven and adept Wire Harness Technician with a mechanical background to become a vital part of our dynamic startup in Austin. Our focus is on developing pioneering autonomous surface vessels for the Department of Defense. In this role, you will be instrumental in the assembly and integration of electrical systems within our vessels, ensuring they adhere to the utmost standards of quality and reliability.
Responsibilities
Wire Harness Assembly: Build, route, and install wire harnesses in accordance with engineering schematics and specifications.
Component Integration: Collaborate with mechanical engineers and other team members to seamlessly integrate wire harnesses into various vessel components, including propulsion systems, sensors, and communication devices.
Quality Control: Execute detailed inspections of completed wire harness assemblies to ensure accuracy, functionality, and compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical issues associated with wire harnesses during assembly and testing phases, implementing effective solutions to guarantee optimal performance.
Documentation: Keep comprehensive records of wire harness assembly procedures, modifications, and testing outcomes to support future reference and ongoing improvement initiatives.
Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and regulations to foster a secure working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
Collaboration: Engage closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, mechanical technicians, and project managers, to achieve project milestones and deliverables within set timelines.
Requirements
Technical Expertise: Demonstrated proficiency in wire harness assembly techniques, including soldering, crimping, and connector termination, along with a solid understanding of electrical and mechanical principles.
Experience: Relevant experience in a similar role, preferably within a manufacturing or engineering setting, showcasing a proven track record in the assembly and integration of complex electrical systems.
Education: Completion of relevant technical training or certification in electrical or mechanical fields.
Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy and quality in all aspects of work.
