Requirements:Engineering degree with at least a 2:1 classificationA minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar roleIn-depth knowledge of HV systems and related regulationsFamiliarity with HEV, PHEV or BEV architecturesExpertise in one or more HV system functions such as Energy Management, Thermal Management, Charging Control, Torque Management, and High Voltage SafetyAbility to create test specifications based on HV system requirementsExperience executing test cases in vehicles and on test benchesProficiency in analyzing measurements and generating test reportsSupport for troubleshooting and issue managementExperience in functional calibration is advantageousKnowledge of test case automation on test benches is a plusExperience in big data analysis is preferredStrong customer, team, and supplier management skillsAbility to work effectively under pressure

About the job

EDAG Engineering GmbH is hiring a Component Test & Validation Engineer to work on electric powertrain systems. This position is based in South East England, covering Oxfordshire and Surrey. The focus is on validating high-voltage (HV) powertrain and charging components to ensure they function correctly, last as expected, and meet industry standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan and execute component-level testing and validation for HV powertrain and charging components, such as:
  • Battery systems and modules
  • Electric motors
  • Inverters and power electronics
  • On-board chargers and DC/DC converters
  • Develop detailed test specifications and cases based on requirements and standards
  • Run tests using component and subsystem test benches (including battery cyclers and motor dynamometers)
  • Carry out durability and performance tests in line with regulations and company protocols
  • Validate component performance for functional behavior, thermal performance, efficiency, and safety strategies
  • Analyze test data to identify performance gaps, root causes of failures, and design issues
  • Prepare structured reports with results, conclusions, and recommendations
  • Work with design and system teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues
  • Assist with design validation and release processes
  • Help develop test automation to improve repeatability and efficiency
  • Support functional calibration at the component level as needed
