About the job
As a Material Engineer at AECOM, you will play a vital role in ensuring that all construction materials adhere to RTA specifications, approved material lists, and contractual obligations of the project. Your responsibilities will include reviewing and approving material submittals, sourcing approvals, mix designs, and compliance certificates in alignment with RTA and local authority standards.
Additionally, you will coordinate and oversee laboratory and field testing mandated by RTA for materials such as concrete, asphalt, soil, aggregates, and steel, ensuring they meet the highest quality and safety standards.
You will also monitor the materials used in roadworks, bridges, and infrastructure, ensuring conformity with approved designs and specifications. Regular liaison with RTA-approved laboratories, third-party testing agencies, and authority representatives during inspections and audits will be essential to your role.
As part of your duties, you will verify the compliance of materials with RTA-approved suppliers and manufacturers, ensuring adherence to factory production control requirements.
Proper sampling, testing frequency, and test reporting in accordance with RTA Quality Control Manuals and the project's Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) will be key responsibilities as well.
Monitoring material storage, handling, and traceability on-site to prevent contamination or misuse is crucial for maintaining project integrity.
You will support the Resident Engineer in addressing material-related Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective and preventive measures.
Keeping track of material approvals, testing status, and non-conformances will help mitigate any schedule impacts on RTA milestones.
Participation in RTA inspections, audits, and compliance reviews related to materials and quality assurance will be part of your routine activities.
Finally, you will assist in reviewing and verifying material records, test reports, and certificates needed for the as-built and handover documentation, while coordinating with planning and construction teams to ensure timely availability of approved materials in line with project timelines.
You will also provide technical guidance to site supervision staff regarding RTA material standards and acceptance criteria, and help prepare final quality dossiers and material compliance reports for project close-out.
