Role OverviewAs a pivotal member of our engineering team, you will report to a Senior Engineer and focus on the intricate design of protection and control (P&C) schemes for electrical systems across various sectors including Transmission and Distribution, Power Generation, Industrial, and Renewables. Your expertise will be essential in analyzing, evaluating, and innovating designs as well as revising existing schematics under the mentorship of seasoned engineering professionals.Key ResponsibilitiesApply your knowledge of Protection and Control philosophies, schemes, and standards to deliver comprehensive design packages for substations, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials.Utilize your experience with MathCAD, Microsoft Office, Aspen Oneliner, and CAPE software to complete design tasks efficiently.Demonstrate proficiency in modern digital protective relays used in utility applications, including the calculation of relay settings.Exhibit technical knowledge of electric transmission systems, including operations, maintenance, performance, power equipment, and substation design.Knowledge of Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) regulations is a distinct advantage.Showcase strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and resolve varying issues simultaneously.Provide essential technical support during construction and commissioning phases.Possess competency in basic computer skills, including Microstation, AutoCAD, Trane Software, and Microsoft Office products.Stay informed about relevant legislation, standards, regulations, and best practices (CSA, ANSI, IEC, and IEEE standards).Understand local area networks and communication protocols for local and remote interrogation of substation relays, meters, and other intelligent electronic devices (IEDs), including familiarity with IEC61850.Contribute to the design of electrical infrastructures within the Transmission and Distribution, Power Generation, Industrial, and Renewables sectors.QualificationsA Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; or a Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution is required.2 to 8 years of experience in the utilities industry is preferred, though not mandatory.Candidates with prior engineering experience in electrical facilities across Transmission and Distribution, Power Generation, Industrial, and Renewables sectors will be prioritized.Experience in construction and field installations is considered an asset.Demonstrated proficiency in medium to high voltage power engineering within relevant sectors.
