At The Exploration Company, we are pioneering the future of space travel with Nyx, our innovative modular orbital vehicle designed for reusability and in-orbit refueling. This vehicle is engineered to carry both cargo and, eventually, human passengers.
We are currently seeking a seasoned NDT Level 3 Engineer to join our expanding team in Munich or Bordeaux. This role offers a unique opportunity to engage directly in inspection activities during our initial production phase while also playing a vital role in shaping and enhancing our NDT capabilities for future endeavors.
Your Mission
Conduct and oversee Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) on essential composite and welded aerospace components, utilizing UT, PT, ET, and VT techniques (knowledge of RT is an advantage).
Support operations during the early production phase by actively performing inspections to ensure product conformity.
Define, validate, and approve NDT methodologies in accordance with EN 4179 / NAS 410 and client-specific standards.
Develop comprehensive inspection procedures and guarantee traceability of results.
Lead the integration of automated and advanced inspection technologies (e.g., PAUT, robotic NDT).
Collaborate closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production teams to address non-conformities and foster continuous improvement.
Play a crucial role in establishing the future of the NDT department, including the training, mentoring, and qualification of Level 2 inspectors.
Your Profile
Certified Level 3 in accordance with EN 4179 / NAS 410
Ultrasonic Testing (UT) – mandatory
Penetrant Testing (PT) – mandatory
Visual Testing (VT) – mandatory
Eddy Current Testing (ET) – preferred
X-Ray Testing (RT) - preferred
Additional Level III certification according to ASNT-TC-1A (ASNT Level III) or ISO 9712 is highly preferred.
Over 8 years of experience in aerospace, space, defense, or similar high-stakes industries.
Proven track record in leading NDT efforts and driving quality assurance.
