Role Overview The Launch Engineer, Fluid Systems (Starship) role focuses on designing, building, activating, modifying, and maintaining the fluid systems that support the world’s most powerful rockets. This position works in a development-heavy setting where hardware is often designed, constructed, and installed in a single day. The work centers on managing cryogenic fluids and high-pressure gases, requiring creative problem-solving to keep up with demanding launch and test schedules. What You Will Do Analyze, design, and build systems essential for rocket launches and testing. Lead projects from start to finish: host design reviews, justify technical decisions, procure equipment, and coordinate construction. Develop modular hardware that can be produced at scale for launch sites worldwide. Apply skills across process design, fluid and thermal analysis, structural engineering, material selection, and cost and schedule planning. Work hands-on with technicians and support teams to implement designs and troubleshoot issues in real time. Communicate closely with launch operations to adapt quickly to changing deadlines. Activate and troubleshoot equipment to achieve design targets, while refining maintenance strategies to reduce downtime.
