About the job
The Opportunity
At Antler, we are undergoing an exhilarating transformation as we revitalize our legacy brand, which has been around for 112 years, and expand our global presence. Our goal is to actualize our ambitious vision as we continue to gain momentum.
Starting in 2025, we will evolve into a ‘House of Brands’, with our product design and development spearheaded from our innovative design studio in London, collaborating with specialized teams in Sydney and Hong Kong.
We are currently on the lookout for a Junior Product Developer to join our dynamic Development team in Sydney. The ideal candidate will possess a curious mindset and a keen eye for detail, contributing to the creation of outstanding products by supporting R&D innovation, product development, and helping us establish efficient supply chains.
We seek an individual who is equally adept at working with product samples, exploring new materials and prototypes, as well as analyzing spreadsheets, supplier data, and cost models.
Key Responsibilities
Our fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment means that no two days are the same. Your core responsibilities will include:
1. Product Research and Development. Engage in problem-solving and refine design details, select materials, and optimize construction methods to ensure products meet cost, quality, and performance criteria. Conduct extensive research on materials, components, and manufacturing processes, providing technical insights, engineering analysis, and durability testing to drive product enhancements.
2. Collaboration with Design and Cross-Functional Teams. Work in close partnership with the design team and collaborate with merchandising, marketing, and finance teams to bring concepts to life as fully manufacturable and commercially viable products. You will also coordinate with our design team in London and our product and sourcing teams across Asia, necessitating flexible working hours to accommodate different time zones.
3. Project Management. Adhere to the product development calendar and critical path to ensure that all milestones, budgets, and deliverables are achieved. Maintain organized and accurate project documentation while proactively identifying any potential risks, delays, or bottlenecks.
4. Global Sourcing. Assist in sourcing and auditing new suppliers, facilitating quotations, cost comparisons, and supplier capability evaluations.
5. Costing & Commercial Analysis. Contribute to the development of cost models for materials, labor, tooling, and logistics, along with analyzing cost drivers to understand and optimize costs.
