What You Need:5+ years of engineering experience in a relevant field. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. Experience with air-breathing turbomachinery or propulsion systems (e.g., Turbofan, Turboshaft). Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, NX). Adept at managing CAD and complex assemblies using Team Center. Familiarity with Mil-Spec fasteners and aerospace hardware standards.

What You’ll Do:

  • Design mechanical integration solutions for powertrain components on prototype aircraft, including generators and turboshaft engines.
  • Create detailed metallic parts and assemblies to support powertrain mounting, structural interfaces, and systems integration.
  • Develop inlet and exhaust ducting systems for turboshaft engines and thermal management systems.
  • Collaborate with aerothermal analysts to optimize duct designs focusing on performance, pressure drop, and thermal efficiency.
  • Work with structural analysts to ensure designs meet necessary strength, stiffness, and fatigue requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with powertrain engineers and airframe teams to ensure seamless systems integration.
  • Take ownership of the prototype development process, including requirements, design, BOM, procurement, assembly, and testing.
  • Conduct calculations to validate system performance and component margins.
  • Engage with suppliers to evaluate and select COTS solutions as needed.
  • Develop verification testing strategies and ensure rigorous testing (DO-160G, etc.) of your designs.
  • Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications.
  • Assist in the development and documentation of requirements.
