Who You Are:Possess approximately 3+ years of experience as a software developer, Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), or in a related field. Fluent in one or more programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, Java, Go, C#, or Rust. Passionate about creating tools that enhance the productivity of fellow engineers. Exhibit strong empathy, collaboration, and communication skills to foster effective relationships across diverse teams. Bonus: Previous active participation in an open source community is a plus. Bonus: Familiarity with various open source licenses and Contributor License Agreements is advantageous.

As a member of the Open Source Program Office (OSPO), your primary focus will be on developing tools, crafting documentation, and establishing policies that enhance our engineers' interactions with both our open source projects and third-party initiatives. Additionally, you will represent Datadog within various open source communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain tools that streamline the creation and release of open source software at Datadog.
  • Create and support tools to facilitate the integration of open source software into Datadog's ecosystem.
  • Produce developer-facing documentation and training resources related to contributing to and managing open source projects.
  • Engage with open source communities to assess challenges and trends in the industry.
  • Design tools for the automatic analysis and reporting of trends and statistics in open source repositories.
  • Collaborate with [Datadog Open Source Partners] (Datadog for Open Source Projects) to identify and select new projects for our program, ensuring its ongoing relevance and utility.
  • Conduct research and generate content for the [Datadog Open Source Hub] (Open Source Hub).
  • Contribute feedback to the product team through reporting bugs, suggesting enhancements, or providing code contributions.
