Who You Are:3+ years of experience as a software developer, Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), or similar role. Proficient in one or more programming languages, such as Python, JavaScript, Java, Go, C#, or Rust. Passionate about creating tools that enhance the productivity of fellow engineers. Possess strong empathy, collaboration, and communication skills to foster robust relationships across diverse teams. Bonus: Active participation in an open source community. Bonus: Familiarity with various open source licenses and Contributor License Agreements.

This commitment extends beyond our products to encompass open standards and open collaboration, forming a fundamental aspect of our identity and operations. As a vital member of our Open Source Program Office (OSPO), you will focus on creating tools, documentation, policies, and more to enhance how our engineers engage with open source projects, both those we develop and third-party initiatives. Additionally, you will represent Datadog within open source communities.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain tools that facilitate the creation and release of open source software at Datadog.
  • Build and maintain tools that streamline the integration of open source software into Datadog's ecosystem.
  • Produce developer-oriented documentation and training materials that guide contributions to open source and the upkeep of open source projects.
  • Engage with open source communities to gain insights into market trends and challenges.
  • Create tools to automatically analyze and report on trends and statistics from open source repositories.
  • Collaborate with Datadog Open Source Partners to select new projects for the program and ensure its ongoing relevance and utility.
  • Conduct research and craft content for the Datadog Open Source Hub.
  • Contribute to product improvements through feedback (bug reports or enhancement suggestions), documentation, or code contributions.
