Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Cost Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related field. A graduate degree in Quantity Surveying, Cost Management, Construction Management, or Engineering is preferred. At least 8 years of relevant experience in a project controls role within the construction sector. Proficient in project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project) and possess advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting. Strong grasp of project control principles, methodologies, and tools, including schedule development, cost management, risk mitigation, and performance evaluation. Outstanding analytical and problem-solving competencies, with the ability to interpret intricate project data and provide actionable insights and recommendations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of fostering collaboration among diverse teams.

Turner & Townsend is on the lookout for a dynamic and driven Project Controls Lead to become a vital part of our expanding team in Dallas. The successful candidate will possess a robust history of delivering exceptional client outcomes. This role will focus on leading project control services for significant client accounts while also contributing to broader business initiatives as necessary.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement holistic project control strategies, processes, and protocols to enhance project performance, ensuring compliance with timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, and interdisciplinary teams to establish project objectives, scope, deliverables, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Generate detailed project schedules utilizing industry-standard project management software, factoring in critical path analysis, resource distribution, and interdependencies.
  • Continuously monitor and assess project progress against set baselines, identifying deviations, risks, and areas for enhancement. Proactively engage in risk mitigation and prompt issue resolution.
  • Facilitate regular project status meetings with stakeholders, delivering accurate and timely updates on project performance, including schedule adherence, cost variances, earned value, and risk assessments.
  • Offer expert guidance and recommendations on project control best practices, encompassing cost estimating, budgeting, forecasting, and earned value management.
  • Establish and execute change management protocols to evaluate and manage changes in project scope, ensuring thorough impact analysis, approval processes, and proper documentation.
  • Support project teams in formulating contingency plans, risk management strategies, and recovery plans to navigate project challenges and secure successful outcomes.
  • Assist project managers in analyzing project data and producing reports to aid in decision-making, trend identification, and insights into project performance.
  • Mentor and train project team members on project control methodologies, tools, and techniques, fostering a culture of excellence in project controls throughout the organization.
  • Remain abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in project controls, actively applying this knowledge to refine project management processes.
  • May involve SOX control responsibilities, to be adhered to where applicable.
