Your Profile10+ years of experience in chassis design engineering, automotive cost engineering, or purchasing. Extensive experience with OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechatronics. Strong expertise in chassis systems (axles, steering, brakes) and related technologies. In-depth understanding of materials, structural design considerations (crashworthiness, stiffness, weight reduction, durability), and cost drivers. Advanced knowledge of manufacturing processes and tooling concepts. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.

We are on the lookout for an accomplished and driven Senior Chassis Engineer (f/m/d) to join our Costing & Insights team in Munich.

In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality cost analyses and actionable technical insights for chassis systems, including axles, steering, and brakes. Your work will support product development, cost optimization, and the implementation of design-to-cost strategies within the automotive sector.

You will take the lead in conducting complex cost analyses, link technical assessments with cost drivers, and convey analytical findings into clear business recommendations for both internal stakeholders and customers.

Your Responsibilities

  • Oversee intricate chassis cost benchmarks, design-to-cost (DtC) studies, and system-level analyses.
  • Establish cost structures aligned with industrial process flows and costing guidelines.
  • Apply and critically assess bottom-up costing and DtC methodologies.
  • Evaluate product design, materials (steel, aluminum, substitution strategies), manufacturing processes, tooling, purchased components, and supply chain logic.
  • Identify and analyze key cost drivers such as materials, tooling investments, cycle times, energy, labor, and logistics.
  • Ensure analytical rigor, traceability, and consistency in deliverables.
  • Convert complex technical analyses into straightforward business insights and recommendations.
  • Act as a primary technical liaison with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Lead in-depth technical discussions and support design-to-cost initiatives.
  • Mentor junior engineers and foster knowledge sharing across teams.
  • Contribute to the establishment of costing standards, tools, and methodologies.
