At Essel Environmental, we are in search of a Senior Electrical Controls Engineer who is adept at managing mid to large-scale projects. In this role, you will be responsible for creating electrical schematics, developing PLC/HMI programs, and engaging in the debugging, testing, and commissioning of custom machinery, which includes motion systems, heaters, pumps, and automated hoists.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in sales proposals by developing conceptual electrical system configurations and estimating engineering hours.
- Design electrical schematics and panel layout diagrams using AutoCAD Electrical for in-house panel fabrication.
- Identify and specify electrical components that best fit each application.
- Create Bills of Materials and assist with sourcing electrical components.
- Develop organized PLC and HMI code utilizing various methodologies including ladder logic, structured text, and function blocks.
- Design user-friendly, visually appealing HMI screens that provide intuitive navigation across production lines.
- Diagnose electrical issues, enhance system functionality, and participate in factory acceptance testing.
- Travel to customer sites to commission equipment.
- Conduct investigations for service calls, troubleshoot equipment, and document root cause analyses and solutions.
- Provide training to customers and team members on the use of HMI screens and equipment fine-tuning.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
- A minimum of ten years of experience with a proven record in designing and enhancing electrical and control systems for industrial machinery and automation.
- Expertise in low, medium, and high voltage industrial electrical systems and HMI control systems with remote I/O and various sensors.
- Extensive experience in designing electrical control panels for turnkey industrial equipment.
- High proficiency in programming Allen Bradley PLCs and HMIs for controlling pumps, heaters, and instrumentation (pressure, temperature, conductivity, pH, etc.).
- Ability to specify and configure VFDs, motor protectors, contactors, soft starters, and other motor interfacing devices.
- Experience with motion control devices is a plus.
