Datacom Limited is looking for a Field Engineer to join its team in Wellington. This full-time, on-site position is based at a client location on Featherston Street in central Wellington and supports clients both locally and across New Zealand. The role centers on providing desktop and engineering support within varied IT environments, requiring professionalism, technical expertise, and clear communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver on-site IT support for clients at multiple locations (a valid New Zealand driver’s license and personal vehicle may be required).
- Act as the primary contact for clients regarding administrative and technical aspects of assigned projects.
- Build and maintain end-user devices, including PCs, laptops, thin clients, printers, mobile devices, and tablets.
- Diagnose and resolve technical faults and issues.
- Support Windows desktop, server, and network environments.
- Maintain strong working relationships with colleagues, clients, and suppliers.
- Manage all facets of field support, covering system hardware, software, PCs, and networking or wireless networking.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of relevant IT experience.
- Experience with installation, diagnosis, and repair of PC systems and end-user devices, including laptops, desktops, tablets, Intune, O365, and current Windows operating systems.
- Familiarity with server and networking equipment.
- Ability to analyze moderately complex situations or data, considering multiple factors.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Proactive approach, solid organizational skills, and attention to detail.
Eligibility Requirement
Important: Applicants must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents who have lived in New Zealand for at least five consecutive years, due to client security requirements.

This role is based on-site at a client office on Featherston Street in central Wellington.
